As the seasons continue to change and we move inevitably through fall and into winter, I’ve been reflecting on what we have to look forward to these next few weeks and months. These are challenging times for sure. It is more important than ever to continue to stay connected - even if it means yet another Zoom call!
At AMA Toronto, the next couple of months will offer some great content and connection opportunities to beat the winter blues - like our Legendary Leadership event on November 12, with recent Canada's Marketing Hall of Legends inductees Anthony von Mandl and Brian Scudamore. One of my favourite AMA events of the year, the December Looking Ahead Agency Panel is being led this year by our former President and VP of Finance Matt Chong, and is shaping up quite nicely. We are happy to welcome KPI Digital as our Lead Sponsor for this event. Our MNG team is also feverishly working for our next networking meet up on November 24 (on a Tuesday this month to accommodate those celebrating US Thanksgiving). This virtual panel discussion Canada: Diversity Strong, Inclusion Weak, will discuss how Canadian companies can foster inclusivity and equity.
I am also excited that we will be hosting a Holiday Social in December - can't wait! Stay tuned for more details.
I want to give a shout out to AMA Toronto Partner Marketing Talent Inc. who this past month awarded 4 scholarships to help increase representation and diversity in our signature Mentor Exchange program. With COVID’s adverse impact on our industry, this is a much welcomed and truly impactful gesture. Thank you, Marketing Talent Inc. for your generosity and thoughtfulness. The program is now well underway, after the two half-day sessions for mentees and mentors with AMA Toronto partner Schulich Executive Education Centre. Having attended the Mentors session, I know firsthand how this super engaging session turbo-charged us all and set us up for success!
One of the things especially important for me is to continue to hear from our community. How are you staying connected? What are you learning? How are you contributing? To help enable these conversations, I am launching the AMA Toronto AMA - or Ask Me Anything - to have a casual conversation and connect with members of our community. Stay tuned for the date later in November.
And in conclusion, I wanted to thank all our Volunteers. We recently welcomed three new Board members in key positions and with that, our Board of Directors is complete! I also want to give a shout-out to our Volunteer Rockstars of the Month. Volunteers make our work and our impact possible, and we are truly grateful for their commitment and contribution to the marketing industry. So proud to work alongside this diverse and talented group of professionals!
Stay well, and see you soon.
Onwards and upwards,
