Nancy Marcus

Nancy Marcus, 2020 Legend Inductee

Nancy Marcus is one of Canada’s most recognized marketing professionals in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry. Her keen strategic insights and superior, bold marketing innovations have made her an award-winning influencer for more than 40 years. She has had tremendous impact on how companies market their products in the CPG industry working collaboratively and cross functionally within the organization.

Nancy has been a trailblazer since the start of her marketing career at leading companies including Phillip Morris and RJR MacDonald as one of the few female VPs to have a seat at the executive level. Most recently as Chief Marketing Officer at Kruger Products (with brands such as Cashmere, Scott's and SpongeTowels), she was the only female on the KPLP Management Team for more than a decade. Nancy has successfully contributed to the changing CPG landscape by redefining how companies embrace marketing to deliver bottom line profitability.

DEI Open Forum: A New Engagement Strategy

We live in one of the most diverse cities in the world with over 250 ethnicities and 170 languages represented in the Greater Toronto Area. Yet as marketers, we recognize that we can do better in reflecting this diverse community in the companies we work for and within our own marketing community.

The AMA Toronto is hosting an open forum to get your feedback on how we can improve Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within the marketing industry in the GTA and at the AMA Toronto chapter. With your input, this interactive and engaging discussion will help identify gaps and blind spots in our industry AND concrete suggestions and solutions to address these gaps.

Join the American Marketing Association (AMA) Toronto’s first DEI Think Tank, moderated by Christine Andrew and facilitated by our very own board members. This is your opportunity to contribute to AMA Toronto’s DEI strategy as we look for ways to support our diverse member community.

We welcome both AMA members and non-members to attend, as this event is free for everyone! Please check in your inbox for your promo code.

Battle of the CMOs: B2B vs. B2C

Debating: B2B and B2C marketing are entirely different disciplines.

AMA Toronto, in partnership with Empathy and Leger, are excited to invite you to Battle of the CMOs: B2B vs. B2C live debate.

Today, the definition of marketing is broader than ever before. Under its umbrella we’ve broadly delineated two mutations of the same discipline or perhaps two disciplines, entirely: Marketing to mass consumers (B2C) and marketing to other businesses (B2B). Business schools teach both under the same banner, but are they truly the same?

Join us for a night of lively debating on Wednesday, March 31st, 2021 at 5:30 - 7:00 PM.

The Debaters:

CON SIDE: Ilda Dinis, Senior Vice President, Customer Experience, Marketing & Innovation at Northbridge Financial Corporation

Ilda Dinis is the Senior Vice President of Customer Experience, Marketing & Innovation for Northbridge Financial, Canada’s leading commercial insurance provider and a proud member of the Fairfax Financial family. With over 20 years of experience, she is a passionate customer advocate and champion of building culture, brands and reputation through integrated and creative strategies.

In her current role, she is responsible for working with partners and colleagues from across the organization to continuously evolve and operationalize Northbridge’s customer strategy. Her most cherished role however is being the proud mother of two almost adult sons and a very needy chocolate lab.

She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a joint Master of Communication Management from Syracuse and McMaster Universities.

PRO SIDE: Christopher Brockbank, Chief Commercial Officer at FIRMA Foreign Exchange

A Business Leader with 30+ years’ experience within the retail, financial services, media, telecommunications and consumer products industries. Recognized for driving exceptional results, strong organizational and planning abilities, balanced with excellent interpersonal and team development skills. Sought after to build or overhaul marketing programs and to develop new brands and dramatically improve marketing and corporate results. A solid reputation for being a key resource in the areas of strategic thinking, problem solving and program innovation while achieving financial performance goals.

Chris’ previous experience includes CMO/EVP Marketing roles at Sears Canada, Moneris, Just Energy and Sun Media, Quebecor Media. In addition, Chris also engaged in executive level marketing roles at Sirius Satellite Radio, Bell Canada/Bell Wireless, ICO Global Communications and Nortel Networks.

In addition to Chris’ vast wealth of knowledge and experience, he is also an Instructor at University of Toronto where he teaches Brand Management in the Continuing Education Program. Chris holds a “Chartered Marketing” Designation. Known for marketing strategy and customer advocacy, and strong belief in the art and science of Marketing. Chris is Co-Chair of the Brand Council for the Canadian Marketing Association and on the Board of Directors of Agilus Work Solutions.  Chris is currently completing his Directors Education Certification (ICD.D) with the Institute of Corporate Directors at Rotman.
