Mentor Exchange

Canada’s top marketing and business executives provide nine-month mentoring relationships with senior marketers to help inspire them to become the leaders of tomorrow.

About Mentor Exchange

The Marketing Hall of Legends was founded with the clear goal of enshrining the profession
of marketing as a key pillar in the success of Canadian businesses, through recognition of
the achievements of its “Legends”. This will elevate the status in the business community
of marketing as a critical success factor in gaining market share.

The MHOL Mentor Exchange is a forum for marketing experts and business leaders to form
mentoring relationships with the next generation of talent, building the capacity of our
future Canadian business executives to lead with the discipline of marketing as a key
component of every strategic business system.

Dear Mentees,

Having a mentor can you make a significant contribution to a successful and satisfying
career in Marketing.

Accessing the wisdom of a Marketing master will help you to:

  • do more with your strengths and exploit hidden talents
  • gain objective and valuable insight aligned with your career management goals
  • increase your visibility, open doors, and enrich your industry network

Dear Mentors,
It is extremely important for our current Canadian executive leaders to mentor and coach
the next generation of marketing legends.

  • By participating as a mentor-coach, you serve as a model for strengthening the marketing community and creating future marketing legends.
  • By sharing your experience, you will help others build and strengthen strategies to improve their marketing skills.
  • The role will give you the extraordinary opportunity to facilitate your Mentor-Partner’s personal and professional growth by sharing knowledge, offering support, assisting in their development, and stimulating and challenging their thinking, all the things you learned through years of experience.
  • By becoming a Mentor-Coach, you create a legacy that has a lasting impact on your Mentor-Partner and the marketing industry.
  • Not only will you gain the satisfaction of helping to develop future legends, the knowledge you foster in your Mentor-Partner will inspire new ideas for generations to come.
  • You have an opportunity for a symbiotic relationship where you learn from your mentor – partner as well.

How does it work?
We commit business leaders to become Mentors, and they then avail themselves to mentoring
mid-level, emerging marketers. The Mentor Exchange program provides mentors with a robust
but simple mentoring/coaching curriculum, and access to a certified coach for Q&A.

A two-three hour training session bring the mentor community together before the program
begins, to allow the mentors to clearly understand their role.

The expectations are for a time commitment of 10 hours a year, each mentor focused on one
mentee.

At year end, either the relationship will continue, both parties willing, or either may
choose to exit altogether, or to change “relationships”.

Mentees are screened and briefed as well on the nature of the mentoring, prior to being
accepted in the program.
