Alex Panousis, Consultant – Alex Panousis has spent almost 20 years in the marketing and communications industry, working on some of the largest global brands in the world. Her career started on the creative side at Leo Burnett and progressed to executive roles at the National Post, PHD Media and the CBC. After spending almost 10 years as President and CEO of media agencies Starcom and Mediavest, Alex is consulting with early stage technology startups in business development and strategy. She sits on a number boards and is an active member of the media and technology sector in Toronto.
Daniel Shearer, Executive Vice-President and General Manager at Cossette – Daniel believes that creativity not only builds brands, but can also make the world a better place. After 11 years at TAXI, Daniel joined Cossette, as Executive Vice President and General Manager in 2016, bringing with him extensive experience building and running diverse, integrated teams and agencies. He exploits his deep consumer obsession in everything he does through an inimitable style – ever curious, endlessly energetic and entirely bullshit-free. Daniel is proud to have been involved in work spanning regions, categories and consumers that has been awarded on the local and global stage for both creativity and effectiveness. Daniel lives in Toronto with his beautiful wife and their two young boys, who are a bit of a handful.
Steve Waugh, VP, Head of Client Services at Giants & Gentlemen – Over the last 12 years in account management, Steve has worked with local and international clients such as Wyndham Worldwide, OLG, Molson, Koodo Mobile, WestJet, Canadian Tire, Fisherman’s Friend, Circle K, Panasonic and National Arts Centre. Steve is the primary support for all the account teams at G&G, ensuring positive growth and efficiency. He also leads all the communications planning and agency resourcing for G&G clients. His gentlemanly side is best illustrated through his charity work, sitting on the board of two charitable foundations including Kid Powered, which educates slum kids in Delhi about basic health and safety. As a bonus, this gives his mom something to brag about.
Andrew Simon, Chief Creative Officer at Edelman – With an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Andrew is anything but the typical Chief Creative Officer. He began his career as a copywriter in the US at JWT New York and Saatchi & Saatchi Los Angeles. In 2001, he moved to Toronto to join DDB Canada, eventually rising to the role of Executive Creative Director. In his nine years at the agency, DDB was named Canada’s Most Creative Agency six times and Agency of the Year five times by Strategy Magazine. After successful stints as Chief Creative Officer at Blammo and then Cundari, Andrew joined Edelman, the world’s largest independent PR agency. In his two years at the firm, he has helped Edelman become the first Canadian public relations agency to win a Cannes Lion, as well as a Clio Award. Edelman was named 2017 PR Agency of the Year by Strategy, making Andrew the only person to have won both Agency of the Year as well as PR Agency of the Year honours. Acknowledged as an industry leader, he’s been featured on CBC’s The National, Metro Morning, Q, Global TV’s National News, TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin, and has been profiled by both the Globe & Mail and the Toronto Star. But for all of Andrew’s accomplishments and accolades, perhaps most impressive of all is his vast collection of shiny shoes.
Colleen Peddie, Partner & Chief Financial Officer at Bensimon Byrne, OneMethod Digital + Design and Narrative PR – Colleen started at the Bensimon Byrne more than 21 years ago. Those 21 years have included the sale of the company to a multinational agency, followed by multiple mergers at the holding company level and then the management buyback of the agency in 2006. Since the management buyback the company has acquired OneMethod and created Narrative PR.
Matt Lewis, Managing Director at Momentum Worldwide – Matt is a strategic marketer that believes positive experiences build profitable brands. His ambition is to help his clients create work that plays a lasting and meaningful role in people’s lives. Over the past 15 years Matt has established himself as one of Canada’s leading experience based marketers, consulting on some of the largest global projects for brands such as GM, Nike, Wrigley and Miller. Matt sits on the board of HEROS, a charity focused on teaching life skills through hockey for Canada’s most at-risk youth. He is also a proud Torontonian and father of 1, with #2 on the way
